Why does the xlights forum not get first notice of new releases.

Earlier today I saw a release note on .54 on the DIYC site.  Yet here I am several hours later and still do not see a notice for .54 on this site.  Seems like the home of the software should be the first to see a new release.

Respectfully Jim, I think the "home" has moved over to the Facebook page.  While the software is still free, the venture has become more for-profit with lots of sequences for sale and I just think there has been a gradual gravitation over to the Facebook page.  Just my .02 worth

I always post in this order, official fb , second fb, this forum (modify orig post to have .. tags, fitc,acl, sometimes diyc.org,planet christmas. If i post here first i have to edit out the html when posting to fb. This forum should be posted within a few
Minutes of fb. I always post in this order making sure this forum  gets posted right after fb

There is still no post about the .54 release in this section of the forum, so I guess we were skipped this time.  Good thing I read many forums.  I look at FB at least once a day, but I can't find anything new without reading thru tons of old stuff.  That is my main problem with FB.  It is to conversational and if you weren't there at the beginning of the conversation you can't find anything.  This is not in reference to using the search function, just wanting to see what is new without having to be on FB all day.

Ah, I see I did not follow my normal release flow Jim.

54 releases always FB, XL forum, DIYC .etc.

I think I posted on FB (like I always start the release cycle) and must have been called away before i finished.

Mark, posting on fb first is just because it is the least amount of editing for me, it has nothing to do with money??

I post xlight releases to multiple places and have done this for years.
I post for Lilia for her sequences. she doesnt have a fb account.

xLights is free, Lilia's business is separate.

Facebook has no priority over this forum. I wish people would be all in one place but they are not. I get pm's from diyc, diyc.org, acl, planet Christmas, here, falconchristmas, both xlight fb groups plus 4 other fb groups. Watching (and posting) to all of these is something i have done the last few years.

Have you seen this post on diyc from 2014.

fb is a pain because there are no threads, if you dont see it in the first hour or so, it is gone from your screen. There are more people on fb than here, people seem to prefer it to this type of forums.

I figured that Sean, you are human like the rest of us.  The only way to stop the proliferation of sources is to stop answering posts and just reply "See the xlights forum"  LOL, like that is going to happen.

Release posted now, i had it prepped because i see it was on diyc. I must not have pressed save. I cannot copy links from diyc to any other forum because their [url] tag wont work.

I get lots of questions from people privately about their hardware, their software, their LOR import. I ask why not post on a forum or group? I do not have enough bandwidth to answer all of them. I think people feel embarrassed to ask a "dumb" question.

Actually, he usually sends an email to the devs first, then facebook and the rest of the order.   In this case, I got the email and built/uploaded the Mac version LONG before the announcements went out.   He must have really got sidetracked in his normal process.

yep, fb and then prep a message for all the forums using xlights forum. add htmnl tages, copy and paste to the other groups, remember to press save on original staged message on this forum.

i apparently forgot to press save.

i dont what i was doing that i forgot to press save. i still dont have a show so that has distracted me somewhat. I think show may come up tonight with 60-70%. I have had so many cars drive by wondering where is show. limos have gone by.  Tonight i have a christmas performance at 5pm until 9pm . tomorrow the high in denver is predicted to be 6 degrrees. ill see if i want to be outside.

I see several complaints here that people can't find posts on FB unless there were in the last hour.  Well I turned on notifications for the xLights page so I get all the FB posts in email.  I only log onto Facebook if I want to reply to something.  I frequent the xLights FB page, this forum, DIYC, diychristmas, and ACL.  I tend to hang out the most on the ones that are the most active which right now is FB.
