Sample Effects By Hovering Cursor Over Effect Name
« on: December 17, 2016, 07:39:16 PM »
My apology if this has been covered. I'm new to the software, but one thing I noticed is when I place an effect on the timeline, I can then go to the list of effects and click on one to see the change it will make. Once clicked, the list goes away and then it has to be brought back to click another one. Having the ability to hover the cursor over the name of the effect and moving down the list and seeing the changes automatically occur as the cursor moves over that effect name would be nice. Not sure if it can be done, but it would be a time saver.

That's not a normal way to sequence.  Use the toolbar and drag and drop the effect you want.  You just need to learn the effects.  Once you do you won't be dropping effect X and then using the combo box to switch it to effect Y.

Well it only has one purpose and you found it.  I'm just saying I don't think it's used much.  I had to pull up to program to see what it does again that's how long its been since I touched it.  The behavior of the combo box isn't going to change because its just a wxWidget control.  If you hover your mouse cursor over the field you can just scroll through the effects and see it change.  The problem is most effects don't just naturally look good without changing some of the many settings available for each effect so you really need to know the effects to learn what you want to accomplish.

Can you explain this further? I think that may be what I was trying to get at.

Well you might not have one but on most mouse devices there is a way to execute a scroll...like a middle mouse wheel.
