Sub model uses
« on: December 19, 2016, 06:25:35 PM »
I have been playing with sub models but I guess I really dont understand exactly what it does. For example I have 3 mini trees that I just reworked and connected them in series. Each tree has 40 nodes for a total of 120 nodes. I know I can define them as their own tree and address each with the proper start channel but Using submodels I can define them as 1 sring and then use the submodel tab to break them into 40 each. When I put an effect on the one line group that I broke into submodels they all do the same. I clicl on the model and open it up to the node level but no submodels are there 1-40, 41-80, ect,  So what exactly is the purpose of the submodels?

Thankyou Joe

A submodel shows up as a strand that you can drop effects on.  Like I have a Boscoyo Angel custom model and then I created submodels for sections like "Upper Wing", "Lower Wing", "Hands", "Feet", "Flute", etc.  When I expand on the grid I see all those names and can drop effects on them.

Are you sure you created 3 submodels or did you just create 3 lines for a single submodel?  The lines are only for defining a matrix type layout of the submodel.

Gil I will have to check to make sure I am doing submodels right as I am not getting the tree1, tree2,  ect. On the grid as I had thought I should.

Thankyou
