Is your PC setup for subnet 192.168.0.x?  How do you have it plugged in?  Directly to the Ethernet port on the PC or through a router or switch?

Mac usually uses a completely different IP address range from the rest of the world. (They don't like to play well with others)

What a load of crap. No big fan of Mac but this isn't true at any level.

Most of the time a Mac is set up with a default gateway of 10.0.1.1 instead of 192.168.1.1 like most people use. Chances are he may have it hooked up to something like an airport router

These settings come from the router not the Mac. If you plug it into a different router you get different settings from dhcp.

I understand that's why I mentioned the router. Most of the setups that I've seen use all Apple products including the router with a default gateway of 10.0.1.1. And that's why I stated that the usually use a different IP range. When I was in a Best Buy one time I overheard a Salesman come just short of telling the customer that things would explode if he didn't buy all matching equipment. I own an airport extreme router myself, it's in a box someplace around here. I was extremely disappointed with its lack of features. If I recall they even made it difficult to put it in bridge mode.
So my guess before he gets back to us on how he has it connected is that he needs to change his IP address on his Alpha Pix to match his Network.

I got it working, i had to make some network changes in my settings. but now I can only get output to output #1 so its time to tinker with that and see what i am doing wrong.

Good news is you have plenty of time to play if you're doing a Christmas show.  Out of curiosity what changes did you need to make.

I had to change my ether net settings and subnet mask. I am testing by just plugging the board straight into computer, no switch or anything yet.
