Dabil, you will have to post links to the youtube videos or source so we all get the same version.  A search on youtube for Yule amazing grace pulls up a bunch of options..

Pentatonix is always a crowd favorite and I want to say there was a shared version of that already?

My wife is allowing me to build this light show, so the least I could do is sequence her favorite song. lol.

Anyway, here is a link to my dropbox for the work I am starting on this project.

First song in there is True Colors from the Trolls movie. About 3/4 of the way done with the singing faces.
MP3 Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M04D6LJ/ref=dm_ws_tlw_trk9
Description: Trolls Soundtrack - True Colors (Film Version), Track 9
mp3 Name: 09 - True Colors (Film Version).mp3

I was thinking maybe the best way to go about this is for people to just do the elements they like or have ideas for in the beginning. And then share those mini-sequences for just one element or group such as arches or roofline etc. So there may be 3 people for example who sequence the megatree. Then the rest of us have a selection of which megatree sequence we want to use. Maybe 4 people sequence a roof. Again that's 4 choices for which roof we can use. Eventually there will be enough elements done that people can start building show sequences. So we might end up with 2 or 3 different complete show sequences for single song. A trip to build-a-bear gave me that idea over the weekend. lol.

Please let me know when anyone here has sequence parts to share. I will put them in the dropbox. Feel free to use whatever I have in that folder. The images for the singing faces are slightly edited versions I got from the sequences Logandc99 shared. I had to edit the tongues sticking out of the mouth and moving all over. Was driving me crazy. lol. I am going to add some more Poppy eye movements as well.

For anyone who is not sure if they have the skill to contribute, the best way to learn is get involved. And even if the sequences you make ultimately aren't used, don't fret. You never know when something you add may inspire someone else. I value all ideas.

Edit: Just finished the singing faces.

I am assuming that video is aimed at me? I'm not sure how to take that, seems kind of rude to me Gilrock. Are people here not welcome to share their opinions?

I believe you've reached "Phase II: Storming" of group projects...

I thought it was funny.  Never thought anyone would feel offended.  Just joking on how one person started the thread and another one seems to be taking over.  I just googled "who made you leader" and that was the first thing to pop up....lol.

I believe you've reached "Phase II: Storming" of group projects...

This thread has been open for over a month and the only thing that has been contributed thus far is opinions on whether the original author meant to raise money to buy sequences or if he meant to collaborate on creating sequences. Everyone here has had at least a week since this thread became active to contribute, and thus far I am the only person who has even offered an opinion on how to proceed. How long do you guys normally wait to get started?

So far I have suggested numerous songs, offered my dropbox for use on the project to make it easier for all of us to share, and actually created and shared the beginnings of a sequence.

So I believe the words you should be posting here are "thank you". I certainly don't get the negativity when all I am trying to do is get this party started. Lol.

But anyway, I apologize, I guess you guys move at a much slower pace than I am use to. I will try to curb my enthusiasm going forward. But I, am pretty excited, this is my first year you know.

And Gilrock it's cool, like I said I wasn't sure how to take that. Wasn't sure if that was a joke or an insult. I tend to run into more than my fair share of internet trolls.

So going forward I will just make one post here per week so that I am not viewed as "storming group projects". Apparently I have already made it to phase 2, and this post could very well put me to phase 3. I certainly don't want to run out of phases before the holidays get here. Lol.

Cheers. Talk to you guys next week.

This is text-book "Phase II:  Storming".

But to assume that most of us "move at a slower pace" certainly isn't true at all.

Ok we have all taken project 101 and lets move towards Norming so we can start performing.

Would a zoom meeting help so we can start moving this project forward?

As I said previous we need to work off a common canvas and pick a default house and XML file

Personally I was letting the smoke blow off the grenades before popping back in.

A poll with some songs would be my suggestion for what is next.  We  would need a link to the song, preferably something easy to buy on one of the markets and a youtube sample.

I had a song that I liked off my ipod I came across from our library of Christmas music over the years, have to go back and find it again.

Hi arw01 and others

Given its been about 5-6 weeks since there has been a post on this thread I though it would be safe to reopen the thread.   I think its a good idea to crowd do them, I can work on a few sequences and have access to more as my misses would say win-win for all.

Here are  two fun song I would like to do...

Six white Boomers

Grandma got ran over by a reindeer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ok5WsPYcj5Y

or the shorten version

ouch.

I haven't been active in the forums in a while and was about to get started up again.
just happened to see this thread and thought -- what a great idea!!

it is so sad that it imploded (or if the grenade metaphor applies exploded).

anyone interested in getting this going again?  (maybe it doesn't need to be out in the open, but a few positive souls can collaborate to show how it might be done...)

so, whats the first step... build a models with the different objects?

i like building check-lists, so I'll throw out some ideas... always feel free to suggest other ideas or tell me that the idea s*cks.  i won't take it personally.  also, i think the great thing about this is that people can feel free to diverge and go in different directions.  maybe the group comes together and votes on the alternatives.

if there is territory already covered and agreed to, let me know and I won't hash it out again.  (remember, i've been out of the loop for many, many, months!)

maybe we can divide and conquer...  i'll throw out some starting points.

1) choose how the sequences are shared.
1a) how about github?
1b) other ideas?

2) put together a display with many models
2a) AC props? panels? arches? trees? house-outlines? ground-lights? swirl of stars?  faces? ...?

3) list of songs... and maybe 2 to get us started?
3a) there is already a list above!
3b) are there other songs?
3c) maybe one halloween, and one christmas?

4) timings
4a) beats
4b) what does sean call them? the phrases?

5) effects... maybe people can contribute effects that they like?

its a great idea!!  let's have some fun!!!!!!   ;D
