Got tied up with real world plumbing issue  :o


Ok so I have been in touch with the vendor of ArtNet 6UN he has tested it and all appears good on the Windows version.

So the only two things it could now be are my settings or the MAC code.

Have you any ideas I could try to find out if it's me or The MAC

Any one know how to capture packets it is more in depth than I have had to go with networking of any sort.

not really my bag trying to decipher this universe artnet stuff yet.

it would appear i cannot set the monitor mode but managed to capture some info hope this is usfull

I see that promiscuous mode is checked by default, so I think you should be capturing everyone this you need


As to what xlights is sending and what is required by your artnet device is beyond my level of knowledge.

I was really looking for one of the new falcon 16v3 when they come out but they are not available in the U.K. But I may be possible

This Artnet6un is great but there appears to be an issue with XLights universe or the packet info.

I have just tried to set it up again starting from scratch No joy again

Just doesn't like 0.0.0 from ArtNet

I'm still no wiser as to what the issue could be

I looked at your packet captures ... I dont see any universe 0 ... just 18-22 and 2721.

What should I be seeing?

Hi Keith

The set up you can see is the only way i can get it working

so Artnet port 0 is set to 2721 DMX
and 18 to 21 DMX are port 1,2,3,4,5

in the software itself i cannot get universe 0 to even show up so there is no way you can see from the capture
there appears to be a problem with 0.0.0 as in net 0 subnet 0 and universe 0

i  don't know what else to tell you about it.

it is working so maybe we have to accept that it is an unknown .

let me know if you can think of anything

Show up where? It must show up in XLights. What are the ports you mention? I think my problem here is that half the time we are discussing XLights and half the time we are discussing your receiver cards. If your receiver cards correctly receive universes except 0 then I am inclined to think that is their problem. The only thing that would convince me otherwise is two network captures.

1. XLights sending universe 0 with the controller not working.
2. Some other software sending universe 0 with the controller working.

With these two captures I can compare and try to understand why one works and one doesn't.

Sorry for The confusion I'm really trying to get a grip on it

The ports are the ArtNet hub.

I tried yesterday to set everything back to the factory settings and set XLights up to work with it no joy

So I will do as you have asked an packet capture on the default settings in QLC+ which is a stage lighting package and send to XLights with the same settings

I can also do screen capture of the settings as I do them just in case I am making a mistake anywhere

I hope we can eventually sort it but please don't loose any sleep 😉 Over it

Is there anything else I can do.

Hi Keith

after a mental day with real led screen processors giving me a hard time at work

i read your post and thought here we go again so i set the Artnet setting back to default and then set up QLC+ and it worked fine.
so i then set up Xlights and yes you guessed it, it worked, but i have set this so many times it hurts :(

i will attach all the files and screen captures to this post and if i have the issue again or it fails to work i will recapture with wire shark and post

i feel i have been wasting your time on this but maybe i have learned a lesson or two (never a bad thing)
if you do spot anything that may have been an issue with any of the files i have posted please feel free to let me know

Ok now i am really going insane  ::)

so i thought oh great it does work it was me all along, but i was not right  :'(

please see attached PNG's

as i saved Xlights settings
when i opened xlights again it comes up with could not caculate start channels for model (see screen shots)
due to it changing the settings see attached

this may be a simpler issue to solve i hope
