Why are my props self-programming?
« on: March 04, 2017, 11:15:57 AM »
I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I have a setting wrong, but I've been having an when I create props in the sequence, they are creating their own layers with their own sequencing.  And it's not what I want them to do.

For example:  I have a wreath with one strand of 50 nodes.  In the sequence, if I click on the prop I can see the line for "Strand 1."  If I click on "Strand 1," it opens so that I can see a line for every node--and they are already programmed.  And I have no idea why.

I have deleted these from the sequence and added back in several times.  I even deleted the props and recreated them in the layout.

It doesn't matter what I do, the props always have their own programming to do their own thing.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Joe

What you see is normal. When you say programming, do you mean effects? If you are seeing effects that you didn't intentionally put there then that means you have conflicts with other channels. There is a test you can run, tools check sequence. Also, you desperately need the manual. Download and read.

If you render and you still see data on the nodes it can only come from either a data layer you imported or an effect you've dropped.

Rendering did the trick.  As long as I render after I make any effect change it clears up the nodes.  Thanks!

You shouldn't have to render after each change. If you do, you have something wrong. On top of what Gil said, data can also come from other models. Meaning, if you have another model that is assigned the same channels then you will see data on both. That's why I mentioned running a check sequence under tools. This will show you overlapping channels.

Yep I didn't say which model...its from a dropped effect either way.
