Do you remember last year reading about the guy who set up his Christmas display so anyone in the world could control it.  He had people controlling his lights from almost every country in the world.
Well, his name is Tom Hammond, and his Internet Controlled Christmas Lights has become famous.  We are very happy to have him attending Light Up Ohio 2017.
Tom will be having a workshop that will outline how to create an internet controlled, interactive Christmas Light Display, based on "FREE" software (Xlights and Falcon Player) and Low-Cost hardware (Raspberry Pi and Arduino).
Tom's workshop will be on Saturday morning June 3 at our event.  Hope you can attend.  Registration is open now at LUO2017.Whindo.com.

Is there any chance you will be recording his session for those of us that cannot make it?  Maybe stream it live?

There isn't any current plan to video the event.  The event is held in a lodge within a large metro park, an amazing setting, surrounded by trees, stream, and an occasional wild animal passing by.  What it doesn't have is a strong Wi-Fi single, so streaming live is unlikely to work.

The presentations are always top-notch, but LUO is so much more that can't be shown on a video.  There's a lounge like area with fireplace where a lot of small group and one-on-one discussions occur, hands-on demos are taught, and outside where all sorts of projects have been shared in the past.  For example, a flying santa sleigh & reindeer blowmold was set-up, fire canisters shown, and the first public showing of the famous "Jump Pole" was demonstrated.  Of course there's the fellowship of interacting with a tremendous group of people.  LUO has so much more to offer that a video could offer.

Columbus is an easy destination to reach by plane or by car.  The airport is very easy to get in and out of, and fares are reasonable.  There's plenty to do if you bring the family; kids will love the highly regarded zoo and COSI (Center of Science & Industry).  Shopping options galore from new outlet mall to numerous boutiques in the short north area.  And if you're a college football fan, no trip to Columbus is complete without a trip to the Horseshoe. And no, I don't work for the Chamber of Commerce :-)  Columbus is a pretty cool place.

I encourage you to attend and get the most out of what LUO offers.  I'm confident your expectations will be exceeded.

When I first started doing a synchronized display some 15+ years ago, one company was there to help me every step of the way.  I credit them for helping me bring JOY and Wonderful Memories to myself, and countless others who have visited my display over the years.  That company is Light O Rama.
Not only did they help me in my hobby of  "Making Memories", but they have generously supported an event that I hold near and dear to my heart for the past 11 years, Light Up Ohio.
This year is no different, and I "Thank" Light O Rama for their continued support.  This year they have donated a total of $500 in merchandise credit, that will be given away to 5 lucky winners at Light Up Ohio 2017, on  June 3, in beautiful Westerville, OH.  Hope to see you there!!!  Registration is open "NOW"!!!
