Newbie - Working with Coro Candy Canes
« on: April 19, 2017, 10:30:10 AM »
I have 8 candy canes that contain 18 nodes in each cane.  I set up my model using the Candy Cane Model maker, # Canes 8, Nodes per Cane 18, Lights per Node 1,..., String Type RBG Nodes (as they are).

When I drop the Bars effect on the group, I can get an acceptable looking candy cane (red/white) by setting the Palette Rep to 5 (the max) and adjusting the Cycles to get the speed of change I want.  However, when I drop the Bars Effect on a single cane with the exact same settings, I only get the entire cane changing from red to white.  What is happening here?

Is there a way to get the individual nodes to alternate colors?  At the max Palette Rep of 5, I can only alternate colors in groups of 2 nodes.

Also is there a way to make the lights Chase down the line of canes while maintaining the red/white look of each cane?

You have to consider the Render Style you have set for the effect.  Per Preview will sweep across the model as it's displayed on the screen whereas Single Line will sweep through the pixels in order.  Instead of bars I would use SingleStrand or Marquee where you can specify the exact size of each color section moving across the model.

I have been waiting to see if anybody else would post, but you mentioned18 nodes per Candy Cane but I have these Canes and they are only 16 Nodes and this may make a difference.
