Poll for this weekends seminar in Vegas
« on: May 16, 2017, 03:31:30 AM »
Please take a moment to take our survey of what classes you would like to see this weekend at xLights Vegas 2017. These are the current ones we have planned.

https://seanmeighannet.typeform.com/to/nqU7I8

Feel free to post other subjects you would like to see covered.
Your teachers this weekend.
1) Keith Westley (in from Sydney, Australia)
2) Gil Jones (author of shockwave, galaxy, shockwave, dmx, moving heads and others)
3) Steve Giron. One of our first power users.
4) Lilia Meighan. Lilia will teach one hour of how to create an artistic sequence (color, form, movement). The second hour she will give everyone a 30 second sound bite. She will then go layer by layer showing the techniques that build it up to a awesome sequence.
5) Myself, Sean Meighan. I will be teaching most of the beginning classes.

Please have a laptop computer , if possible. You should also have headphones if attending in person. We will have both classes in the same physical room. this will allow sharing the props. Two instructors will have headsets as they give their lectures.  I will bring 10 extra headphones in case people dont have one. we have headphones connected to the audio output port of the presenters audio. This means you can still hear lecture without the need of a laptop.

For those arriving in person, you could bring a usb flash , at least 32gb. On Sunday afternoon we will offer the service of copying all the videos from the weekend and you will take it home.

For those on the web, here are the requirements for your laptop. Basically , any laptop should work (windows, mac or linux).

Have you already purchased the $40 webinar for this weekend?  http://www.nutcracker123.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=2&products_id=94&osCsid=a2ieaumrldsu6mu3ou06uigpa2

Remember , anyone who gets registered by Friday night will also receive one of Lilia's sequences that are valued at $45 or less. You will also be given the link to the 32 hours of videos starting next week. If you register, you are not required to listen to anything to qualify for the sequence.

People who buy the videos after this weekend will pay $40 but will not get the free sequence.

I will send out the two zoom conference id's and passwords this thrusday.

thanks
sean

Took the poll. Looking forward to webinar.

One question, is there any chance we can get one of Lilia's sequences that are more than $45 and pay the difference?

Thanks

One thing I would really like to see gil or Keith talk about is how to program/create new effects in xlights.

Dabil. I don't think there would be enough interest in the group for that. If you are really keen we could organise something another time.

Yeah understandable, thanks for the future consideration Keith, I have begun setting up my environment to be able to compile xlights, was just getting ready to start looking at the code to see if I could make a meaningful contribution.

No hurry though, may not be till next year before I have time to work on it, considering all that I have left to do on my Christmas show this year, plus my wife and I are expecting our 6th child in November.

But if I could get at least a basic understanding of how xlights works under the hood, I may be able to at least contribute some bug fixes.

Anyway, thanks for all that you guys do.
