you don't need that version to test.  just use the latest.

Yeah those were some old instructions that used to tell users to use that ancient version of xLights.  You don't need that version.

David from holidaycoro has always insisted that you test with that version. He doesn't know what he's talking about. My advice, test with the latest version like the rest of us and find another vendor that knows what he's talking about.

Just do a quick search on diyc forum and you will see rants from David at HC. I will give my business to guys like David Pitts well before I do business with HC.

Here is a good example... I especially like Gil's response, it shut him up quickly.

I have read the rants but don't believe in 'mob rules'. I prefer to make up my own mind good or bad. AS previously stated, I have ordered many times from Holiday Coro and those orders have on one occasion asued me to contact them regarding a defective part. David contacted me almost immediately following my polite email and took care of the issue that same day!....no drama.

I also give my business to David Pitts, who is exceptional when it comes to customer service and support. Unfortunately David does no sell all the products I need to create my humble display otherwise i would give him more of my business.

Not trying to create an argument here, just stating my opinion.

Ps. Love the humor Gil!

But if you read further down that same page there are people that have had service from Holiday Coro too.

(Awesome response Gil.....matter of fact without needing to say anything bad against Holiday Coro)

I've always got help with problems with products from holiday Coro. Then I started to realize that I needed help with their products too often. I still buy a few things there but I certainly wouldn't buy one of their controllers ( again).  I have an Alphapix 4 for sale if anyone's interested.

I received bullet pixels that were supposed to be 3.2” spacing that were less than 3". Not a huge problem until you use strips and they don't fit. I had to add wire in several spots. He made several excuses then offered store credit. What good is store credit? The alphapix controllers are a mess. He has stolen a lot of designs from boscoyo, however his quality is far less than boscoyo. I have more, but it's not really that important. People usually won't listen until they experience things for themselves.

I found other vendors. Holiday lighting for power supplies. Roger auchebon for pixels and p10. I make my own cables, so I haven't had a need to HC since.
