Time to test out the heat control in your controller boxes. :)

Me...lol.

Close to Phoenix? Hoping to have a Halloween show up soon. Nothing big, just a excuse to start hanging things on the house for Xmas :)

Here in Texas, my October temps are in the 90s. My house faces west so my P10 panels are SCORCHING hot. So hot that if the RasPi is powered up, it scrambles the uSD card. If I shutdown and remove power, they survive the day. Venting has not helped. Need cooler weather. Stat

Have you considered using a frosted panel in front of your P10?

If you had some sort of frosted glass or plastic really close to the P10 panel it would allow the LEDs to light through it but wouldn't allow the black plastic of the P10 to absorb the sunlight.

Thought about a layer of reflective window tinting. But they're fine after 5:30.

They make rolls of material to stick onto glass to add a frosted look to an existing window.
I was thinking something like that stuck directly to the P10 would reflect the energy from the sunlight rather than absorb it without affecting the look of the P10 while its operating.

I don't think that heats going to do it any favors over time.

These P10 panels are laid out almost like some passive solar homes that I had worked on in the past.
The homes used a large roll down silver shade to turn off the heat.

I've yet to have a controller shut down due to heat. Most mine are either in the garage our under shade. I've also not run a Halloween show yet, so we'll see how this goes. Today was in the 90's!

"Cold front" rolled in last night. New high temp for mid-October is now 70F.
Hit 96F the last few days when I was having problems. I got a head start this year on Halloween and not used to the temps in early October (DFW Texas area).

So I started this post back in June and I've been building and programming since. I hope to have a decent show this year with fewer bugs. This board has been a wealth of knowledge and info. The search function is my best friend. Thanks all for posting and sharing............Drew
