Difficulty copy, paste and move effect
« on: August 14, 2017, 12:10:13 AM »
I am trying to move multiple effects to the arch group, or copy from one arch to the arch group.
Move: I can move the group left or right. Not up or down a model.
I cannot even copy or move the multiple effects on one arch to the others. (2nd choice)
Copy/Paste: I can copy the group, by highlighting all, but when I paste it only pastes one cell.
I have watched videos, read the manual. Doesnt seem to work like others show.
Using Version 2017.22 beta 64 bit.
This seems like it should be simpler. What am I missing?

Make sure the group is collapsed or you can create situations where it can't move up or down.  The issue with groups is if you also have the models it contains in the grid individually.  If so when you expand the group and reveal models those models need to be in the same order as they are individually or you can't use the arrow keys to move the effects up and down.  Why?  Well drop an effect and see how it shows up in two locations.  When you try to move the effect it ends up with 2 different destination models.

For your paste problem we would need to see what you are doing in a video.

Not sure it applies, but I also learned recently that pasting on top of an existing effect does not seem to work.  At least it didn't for me.  I had to delete the effect I was trying to paste over then all was well.

True we don't let you destroy data on a paste.

I got it working. I only had individual arches in one arch group. They were not listed individually anywhere else.
Jnealand gave me a hint about overwriting.
I did not want to lose my changes to the imported sequence.  So I re-imported the arches and it did'nt overwrite my changes. It also made it so I could copy and paste again.
So something I did with all my messing around made it not work for copy and paste.
This seemed like something I have used many times in the past, that I felt this was a stupid question.
Thanks for the help! You guys are awesome!
