DMX MODEL GROUP
« on: September 09, 2017, 09:30:24 PM »
Afternoon

I have 4 moving heads in my show with 16 channels for each head, which have been named via the strand node names. I watched the great video on grouping these dmx heads, however when selecting the DMX effect to the group model the node names revert back to channel 1-9 10 -16. Is there any way add the strand names in? Also the device I'm using has a colour wheel, rather then RGBW LED. Would it be possible to assign a color to the steps? 0-15 white 16-31 red 32-47 green, so this appears on the render?

One last question in the video there was a suggestion to have the dmx model stay in the final position once the dmx queue had finished, rather then reverting back to the pre set. Any news on this?

Sorry but a group is not a DMX model so it's not going to do that.  The only choice for handling the color wheel is learn to use the State effect. Keith did a video somewhere that showed how to use the State effect for a DMX model.

I addressed that with the first sentence.  If you are dropping the effect on a model group then the model type is not DMX model so it doesn't do the channel name lookup.  A model group is its own model type and can contain any type of model so it can't do those special features.
