Getting Frequent Crashes

Starting with version 2017.26 I have had xLights crash on me at various times.  Usually it tells me, "unable to create ... report." 

It just happened to me and I did a "Package Log Files" from the tools menu as soon as I restarted the program.

I send this along, for now.  As it happens again, I'll take better note of what was going on.  It is strange that in the last 3 versions it seems to happen more often.  Rarely happened before that...

Two reports that I found.  (At least I believe they are the crash reports.)

The last one I was able to identify what I was doing.  Simply, I was moving items on the grid adjusting timing.  In these cases, i was moving it along the timeline.

This is usually a bug in some combination of settings in an effect.  There is probably some effect you could delete and the crashing would stop.  The reason the program all of sudden seems to crash "all the time" is because there is that new problem effect that is causing it.  Narrowing it down is the hard part.

I'll keep a better eye on what is happening when and hopefully find this sucker.  It is a pain, but so far I have not had any corruption (that I know of). 

Of course, there is the IT mantra, "Backup, Backup, Backup".

.29 is out today which fixes a big bug in .28 which in turn fixed a whole bunch of crashes in earlier versions.

Well, it has been around 24 hours, 14 of which I was using the program, and no crashes since .29 was installed.

One of these crashes is old ... .27

The other seems to be when you were editing a model group but beyond that I cant see what happened. I have tried to break it and cant so I need some details on exactly what you were doing.

Sorry about the old one.  I usually delete them once uploaded so that I can just grab-and-go the next time.

I'll have to wait till it happens again.  Was paying more attention to the Wednesday night call.  I do know I was indeed trying to modify my groups. Cleaning house by renaming to make them more inline with a hopefully-better naming convention.  What I did at this particular moment remains unknown.
