Renaming SubModels

Is there a way to rename submodels without recreating them?

Not yet other than editing the xml.

Are there any problems if I should edit the xml file?  Anything I should look out for?

Yeah you can make about a 1000 mistakes editing the XML and then you'll be one of those guys posting "OMG all my models are gone".

Not you too, Jim.     Peggy asks me everytime I grunt that it did something "out of the ordinary" again.   

Actually, I'm running automatic backups as well as everytime I go to do something "important" I hit the render, then the backup.  (Or was it the other way around?)
