HLS Conversion BIG problem
« on: October 06, 2017, 10:55:01 AM »
Hey All,

I am using the latest XL version 2017.30.  I am having major problems trying to convert my .hlsIdata files into an .fseq file.

The conversion works BUT it takes 10 hours and longer to convert my roughly 24,000 channels into an .fseq file.   :'(

While the conversion is in progress the computer is almost useless as everything is S--L--O--W.

Last year when I converted my .hlsIdata files it only took a few minutes.

I am thinking about dropping back to an earlier version to see if that clears the problem but I have a couple of questions:

1.  How far back (which version) can I revert to?
2.  Do I uninstall XL and go with a fresh install or just download the older version and run the .exe file?

Is anyone else having a problem converting .hlsIdata into .fseq files?  Please check and respond so I'll know if this is some other issue.....

Thanks...I really need some help with this one.....at this rate it will take the better part of a month to convert my entire show.....  YIKES.....

If you send me your xlights_*.xml files (so I can get the channel/setup things) and the hlsIdata file, I can try and take a look.    If the hlsIdata file is large, a dropbox link is probably best.

Tried another HLS import using "Import" and channel mapping, tedious to say the least and still doesn't work.
Imported effects goto node level not model level. Only model level effect i could was a string of 10 corostars 10 x 1 pixel each. It would appear that importing dumb strings ie singing faces etc would work, but importing pixel info is still at node level, Oh well back to recreating from scratch thanks for trying team.

Wooooo Hoooooo..... Dan....great fix.

Dan jumped on this issue like a duck on a Junebug......  I downloaded version .31 and my conversion time went from 10+ hours with version .30 to 44 seconds with version .31.

Thanks again Dan.....

Hi Santacarl, are using the Import  or Importing via Data layers?
If using Import - how are you speeding up the allocation of each effect to each node?

He was just doing a straight convert (I think) form the Tools->Convert menu.   That converts directly to an fseq file.   You CAN then use that fseq file as a data layer if you want.

But yes, and HLS "import" will only generate node level on/off/color wash effects as that is all the we can get from  HLS.
