2017.31, 64bit, MAC, Mouse Capture Error causes crash. *Update*

2017.30
Mac Version
No debug report created
Screen capture of pop up attached
Video of the issue in action attached
.xml file attached
(Let me know if you can't get the files. I can try uploading again or simply email them if you prefer)

It's the first time using this update so I'm still figuring out the changed made from last year, Ive found its crashed on me about 4 or 5 times now over the last couple hours, always for the same reason and only while I've been trying to add effects, never while I was adding timing marks. I get about 10 minutes into it and then an error pops up. If I don't close down the program when the pop up window prompts me then I loose the ability to use any of the menu features. I'm not sure if this only happens while using the AC Light effects controls bar, When I discovered this I instantly fell in love and didn't look back, that being said it only crashed while using it (love can be cruel) but my trial run with the normal pixel controls bar was short lived and insufficient to really call it a proper test.

From what I can piece together the issue happens when I'm trying to use keyboard commands while holding down the mouse clicker button. It seems when I'm in the AC light tool bar there are times when I can't keep a cell selected to make a change without continuously holding down the mouse to force it to stay selected, allowing me to use keyboard commands to change the effect for that cell.

In the video what happened is I selected a ramp effect in one cell then I clicked in the cell beside it and it automatically put in that same ramp effect into that cell too. I tried changing it to a static ON effect but it wouldn't let me change it by using keyboard commands. I've found if it doesn't let me change the effect then I need to delete the effect and put it in again with the correct effect. This time it decided to crash on me.

I had to whisper in the video because I didn't want to wake the wife or kids. Hopefully it will help you.

Thanks

Download and install .31 that was just released and see if the same thing happens.  I know Dan made a couple changes pertaining to wxWidgets that may have fixed this.

Thanks for the quick reply! Sorry, I missed that update yesterday. I've downloaded it and gave it a shot. I'll attach a video of what I found. Not the same issue but related in the fact that it seems to be a mouse capture issue. It's not causing a crash yet but I've only had it running for about 8 minutes. Being such a short trial time with .31 I haven't been able to determine if there is a sequence of events that leads up to this or if its just random. I figured I would post the details as I find them so its really available to others as well in case they have something related to add.

*UPDATE*

2017.31
Mac Version
.xml Attached
Video of the issue in action attached (Let me know if you can't get the files. I can try uploading again or simply email them if you prefer)

I've found (repeatably) when I'm using the AC function, if I hold down the mouse button in order to maintain an item selected, If I press the delete key then I am no longer able to click menu items on the control bar.

I've attached a video of the issue showing whats happening better than I can explain. I'll also attach the .xml again so its up to date.

Let me know if I can provide any more info to help resolve this issue.

Thanks,

It sounds like you are expecting something to work different than it does.  Its not supposed to "stay selected".  In AC mode you select the type of AC effect you want and then you drag out the selection.  When you let go the effect is applied it does not select that area.  If anything it sounds like we need to block the delete key when you haven't let go since found a way to screw things up.

LOL, if there's a way to screw things up then you can trust me to find it! :)

That being said, It seems to work great when used as it was intended.

Blocking the delete key would save others from going through the same confusion as me. That would be a good solution to this issue if it was applied.
