Com port problem
« on: October 14, 2017, 05:08:10 PM »
This may be a Windows problem. I have holidaycoro dmx dongle. Plugged it in and the windows Device manager shows Dmx Pro, no com/printer. No place for to select a com port number.
Q: Is there a different setting for xlights.

This is a late response, but figured I'd post it for the benefit of future searchers.  Some Windows 10 devices don of have COM ports installed by default, e.g. Surface Pro.  You can download a virtual com port driver from Silicon Labs.  The one I downloaded was the CP210x series, which is a UART to USB bridge that I needed to program Espixelsticks.

Drivers for dongle - Normally Microsoft Windows will setup the drivers without additional download but if for some reason this doesn't work, the drivers can be downloaded from FTDI http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm.

I've also seen where just connecting to a different USB port worked (issues have been reported on USB 3 ports)
I know just enough to be dangerous :0
