Conversion Confusion
« on: November 09, 2017, 07:49:13 PM »
Many year LOR user, new to Xlights.  I have watched many of the videos for converting and I thought I was doing it correctly but when I get to the end, part of the sequence is random and chaotic.  There are no missing channels, I have 27 controllers (432 channels with 23 empty channels).  Only AC lights, no RGB with the conversion.  On the Xlight side - models with the appropriate channels (1-409).  Conversion has no errors, identifies all 432 channels.  Once I import and channel map and the render all, the Xlight display looks correct but when I play the sequence, I get something totally different.  Looks like the first 160 channels are working correctly but after that - chaos.

Need help or suggestions  Matt

Its almost always a channel mismatch since this is a well tested/used feature.  Also there are 3 ways to bring in data from LOR so can you detail your steps?  The word "conversion" implies a data layer but you can also create an FSEQ file and open that but its the old method.  The Import Effects menu is the new method that allows you to do mapping....otherwise you will need an exact channel match between LOR and xLights.

I have attached a picture of what is going on.  The black arrows are what is done after I convert the sequence which is not what I have on the LOR sequence.   The yellow arrow shows what is added when I Import effect.  Which is what I expect from the LOR sequence.  This what I see if I do a quick start and skip conversion and just do an Import effect.  So it looks like there is a discrepancy between my LOR channels and Xlights channels when it is converted.  Not sure how my LOR channels should be lined up/set up for the conversion. My LOR sequence - 5 tracks:  track 1: 8 units (1-8), track 2: 2 units (9, OA), track 3: 5 Units (OE-OF), Track 4: 3 units (11-13), Track 5:  5 units (13-17); track 6:  4 units (18-1B).  When I look at the Xlight channels (here is a small excerpt) - they all correspond to the correct channels.

INFO: xLights Channel: 001 = LOR Name: MegaTree-Red
INFO: xLights Channel: 002 = LOR Name: Unit 01.2
INFO: xLights Channel: 003 = LOR Name: Unit 01.3
INFO: xLights Channel: 004 = LOR Name: Unit 01.4
INFO: xLights Channel: 005 = LOR Name: Unit 01.5
INFO: xLights Channel: 006 = LOR Name: Unit 01.6
INFO: xLights Channel: 007 = LOR Name: Unit 01.7
INFO: xLights Channel: 008 = LOR Name: Unit 01.8
INFO: xLights Channel: 009 = LOR Name: Unit 01.9
INFO: xLights Channel: 010 = LOR Name: Unit 01.10
INFO: xLights Channel: 011 = LOR Name: Unit 01.11

This is the steps I do:
1.  create new sequence
2.  Click on Musical Sequence and find Audio choose 20 fps
3.  More options - LOR - LOR sequence associated with Audio
4.  Check "all off" and "map empty channels" - verify # of channels and no errors -
5.  Import effect, load channel mapping
6.  Render all

Well it's obvious that the Tree1R effects match the Tree1B Node1 data and the Tree1G effects match the Tree1W Node1 data so everything appears to be off by 2 channels.

If you have it importing as effects and it works why are you bothering with conversions?

I did not know for sure if just Importing Effect was another option to run a show with FFP.  All but one video I found discussed converting and data layering.  This will help tremendously and keep me from pulling out what ever hair I have left.

Thanks  Matt
