Relay Modules not working
« on: November 10, 2017, 04:27:16 PM »
Hello.
First sorry for my English.

I have a setup where I use raspberry pi 3 for running 4 arches and that works fine.
Now I try to use a another pi to control a series of relay modules.
I have both solid state low trigger and normal relay modules.

I have setup a 16 relay module with 5volt and ground from pi, and pin 7 (gpio4 ) for relay number 7.
In my Falcon I have setup my first relay to gpio 4.

Problem. The relay stays on no matter what I do in the sequence. I have made a simple one with 5 sek. on 2 sek
. off an the 5 sek on. then off.

That dosent do anything.

I have attached picture of the pi and really, an a snap of the falcon setup.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Kindest Regards

Jens

Are you level shifting on the Pi. Their outputs are only 3.3v.

Hello keithsw1111

No I haven't done level shifting.

I have seen a lot of instructions where the relays are connected directly to the PI GPIO.

And they seam to work fine.

I thought that the control pins was ok with 3.3v.

That would mean that I have to get 1 level shifter for each gpio pin I plan to use?

It only activate the relay when the FPP is up and running.

On a reboot the relay goes down, and stays down until the FPP is up again.

So something triggers the relay to go high, but I can't get it to go Low.

an no matter which gpio (also those I haven't used in FPP) makes the relay go high.

Regards

Jens

I've used Relays on a Pi, but they were on a USB connected board. Mine has 4 relays and it installs and controls easily in FPP. You just assign a start channel and then (for me) those 4 channels are ready to program in xLights.

They are sold by ICStation and are not expensive. No GPIO worries.
