xLights LOR conversion issue
« on: November 14, 2017, 01:00:39 PM »
Afternoon all,

Just been working on converting my LOR sequences over to xLights and the conversion tool creates the .xseq file, but when trying to open this file for some reason xLights is only looking for .xml files, not .xseq. I'm sure it's something I am doing wrong, but hoping someone can point me in the right direction?

We really need to know what your workflow goal is to give advice.  Do you just want the LOR data to play in xLights or do you want to be able to edit effects, etc.?  In two places in your description it seems like you failed to notice that there was a FileType selection box.  Nobody converts to .xseq anymore.  Now you would pick .fseq.  And when opening sequences they are normally stored as xml but you can choose .fseq and it will create an xml file when you save.  FSEQ files are just data so channel data would need to exactly match between LOR and xLights.

Well to start, I just want to convert my LOR sequences over to xLights just to play and add to the scheduler so my show can run without the LOR software. As for the file type comment, that is where the confusion as one of the options is for xLights and it shows the file type as .xseq so naturally someone new would chose that thinking it was native to xLights. I'll try the ontion for Falcon Pi Player, thank you.

Going to .fseq worked, thank you. Now to figure out how to import or set myself to edit these. Making progress and happy to be able to do this on Linux.

Yes we should probably remove XSEQ as an option for a conversion destination.  We need to keep it as a possible source in case users have older files.
