Manually triggered patterns

Is there a way to set up a cuelist of patterns that can be manually triggered at any time?  So instead of creating a timeline for a song, you would set it up more like a cuelist in lighting software with a manual 'go' button.

Sure. Create each cue as a sequence and use the scheduler to play them using custom defined buttons.

Could you elaborate on this process?  I haven't worked with the schedule at all, and can't seem to find where I would setup custom defined buttons

In settings. There are videos on videos.xlights.org that go through it.
