Dual Playlist in xScheduler
« on: November 25, 2017, 03:03:26 PM »
OK here's my setup. I have a Renard SS24 pre-wired to 6 outlets under the eaves. I also have my  entire Christmas display running off 5 E682's. Independently they run fine. I would like to have the Renard turn on the 6 outlets permenantly and also run the Christmas Playlist.

I created a sequence of 30sec that would turn on the 6 outlets (via the Renard) and run in a loop. That works fine to turn on a Hub, a Santa and a couple of trees that will be on for approx 4 hours.

I also have an 8 song playlist for my regular display (approx.9700 leds via 5-E682s). That works fine also and runs for 3 hours.

I tried to create a background playlist for the Renard called AC Power and set it up in Advanced Playlist. But when I run the schedule, the AC Power playlist runs in the background (Yeah!), but the Christmas Playlist plays only the audio and no light sequence. I presume the data is not running.

I currently have a work around with multiple extension cords, but they are messy. And the AC outlets would work perfectly.

You need to limit the background sequence channels.

You need to limit the background sequence channels.

Meaning, i just need to send a turn on to the Renard channels? I only need to turn on 2. They are normally controlled by a com port.

I'm gonna hook up the wifi renard controller from Bill Porter and see if working from the same network it will work better. That way I'll eliminate the com port

Meaning you need to tell the background sequence which 2 channels it should only output two. By default it writes to every channel in your show hence the reason nothing else seems to play. Just set the start channel and number of channels.

Ok Keith, that makes sense, so the channels in xLights are 34703 thru 34708 thru an E682 Controlller. So I pulled up the background playlist, added my ACPower FSEQ, then told it to start channel 34703 for 6 channels. Now we'll test.

Tnx for that info.

Did what you suggested, but now the Renard portion cycles. Switching the Renard on and off. Maybe there is a command I can send to turn it on from the command line. If you know how please let me know.

I did see where you can send all sorts of info via the Advanced Playlist, just by right clicking on the list. Maybe a process or command to turn on the renard,\. Or maybe even a hardwired configuration to turn it on. Just fishing for a solution here.

When you say cycles you mean at the end of the background sequence it blanks before restarting?

Yep that's what happens, so if the power keeps recycling even for a milisec, it resets my HUB, which is where my extended ethernet ports are located for my display. I used the hub since I ran out of ports on my wifi, and it also eliminated 3 50' runs of ethernet cable.
