Rendering order of whole house group and individual models
« on: November 30, 2017, 08:01:24 PM »
I've got a "Whole_Display" group and it is placed at the top of the master view.  Below this is "My_House" group and below that is some yard models.

"Whole_Display" consist of "My_House" and the yard models.

The yard models, "My_Arches" specifically, arent behaving as I expected.  I thought that because they were below the "Whole_Display" group, they would be rendered last.  My believe of rendering was that it completely blanked the channels then applied the new effect.

What I'm seeing on the arches is a blend of the two effects.  It appears that the black portions have transparency.

I've deleted most stuff from my display for simplicity and run the "Check Sequence."  Can someone explain why the arches has the green background from the "Whole_Display" group?

I've attached my files but Im guessing this is a fundamental misunderstanding on my part that will be explained without needing the files.

Thanks

Either turn off model blending or change your layer blend.

My believe of rendering was that it completely blanked the channels then applied the new effect.

That was the "2016" way of doing it.    Sometime last year, we enabled the blending of models (on by default for new sequences, off for old) to allow blending of effects on models onto the effects generated at the group level.   In the sequence settings, you can turn that off for the entire sequence.    Alternatively, on the bottom most model effect, you can set the blending mode to "Effect 1" and it wouldn't blend.   OR stick an extra layer with an Off effect under it.

I figured out the "Effect 1" part after I posted but didn't know about the setting in sequence settings.

Thanks for the help.
