Whole House Layout extents and centre
« on: December 13, 2017, 11:38:52 AM »
I've split my show in to 3 different folders so that it becomes easier to manage (faster to save, upload etc.). Each folder's .fseq's are uploaded to an individual FPP to control that part of the show. This so far has worked well for me.

Except... when it comes to whole house effects. Unless you exactly match xlights_rgbeffects.xml, the result of a Whole House sequence is not the same between folders. I can't just copy xlights_rgbeffects.xml between all 3 folders - the models and channel mappings are different between each folder.

Is there a way to take better control over where the Whole House model extents that would make it more independent of the rest of the models? E.g. "Run this Whole House model from 100x50 to 1000x700 on the preview", so that no matter which and where other Models are on the screen, the ones that are present will always render in that specific position as if the whole specific area was the grid?

My Whole House model is in "Minimal Grid" layout mode. "Grid Per Preview" looks like it would do something closer to this, but it is very off-center for me. Is there a way to better customize this?

I think you've already found out what doesn't work.  Minimal Grid will give you a different render buffer because it shrinks to just barely fit whatever models are in layout.  If Per Preview isn't centered then it means your house is not centered in the Layout page.

Ok. I'll just move my house. Thanks.

Wanted to demolish the thing for a while now... This gives me a great excuse!

Its pretty easy to edit a photo and make the house centered.  Put black on one side if you have to.  Otherwise almost any effect that does not look centered has an adjustment to center it.
