Proper Garland Method
« on: December 23, 2017, 06:12:38 PM »
I am trying to do traditional garland stacking.

Garlands should come down in sections, when they reach the bottom then they stay.  The next garland comes down, and then stacks on the one already at the bottom (usually of the tree).  This continues until the tree is full.

Not quite sure about the garland effect in xLights.  It is good for what it is, just isn't the garlands I've become used to.

Does anyone know how to get the "ring" effect with garlands?

Please note, the attached video seems choppy, but still shows the idea.  The actual is very smooth.  My screen capture program (snagit) seems to have cut this up.  My apologies.

Edit:
I have been able to get this working, sort of.  Stacking is working as I want, but the rings coming down are very sporadic.  Not sure how I can show an example of what I am seeing until I get a better screen capture/video program.

That's exactly what Garlands looks like when I put it on a 12x50 tree using it's default settings.

In my case, the tree is 270 degree with 20 strings and 62 pixels per string.  (10 outputs, 124 pixels "zigged" at 62 at the Falcon F16 controller.)

The garlands are a single thickness, and only about 2/3 of the strings are lit as it progresses down. Which are lit on the way down varies and jumps around per pulse.

I'll try to get a video of it.
