Working with Excel
« on: January 06, 2018, 10:34:35 AM »
I am new to pixels and nodes as well as Xlights. I have been doing a display using LOR for 3 years and want to get into pixels and nodes.

I have watched a lot of videos. I am trying to convert my LOR to Xlights and trying to incorporate shared talking props, ie: bulbs and trees into my sequences, but they don't channel up correctly when I play the sequence and watch the models.

I saw videos where some use Excel. I have downloaded an alternative to Excel, but I don't know how to get the channel configuration into the spreadsheet.

I don't know how to setup the spreadsheet to see what my channel config woud be in Xlights from LOR.
Could someone help a newbie with this?

I sure would appreciate it. I want to get my this years display sequenced as I am trying to re-sequence my sequences with talking figures and you know how long that takes.
I am having channel assignment issues in Xlights and my prop don't act correctly.

My email address is: cdburner1950@comcast.net for anyone wanting to contact me or coach me with Excel or Xlight setup

Clyde at leechburg lights has a ton of videos, that was pretty much my bible making the transfer to LOR made the transition very easy.  I believe he has one a video on excel/LOR and xlights mapping somewhere.  Here is the link to his video, I think it is what you are looking for and may help, His channel is loaded with some great info.

ajterry,

If you could package up your xLights show directory and one of the LOR sequences I'd like to take a look so I can better learn the process of what you're running into and possibly use it to create a help video.  When I did mine a few years ago it was straightforward because I had already converted all my LOR stuff to DMX universes so it came in 1:1.

If you have any sequence you've started in xLights just open it and do Tools -> Package Sequence or otherwise just open xLights and do Tools -> Package Log Files.  Either method will give me everything needed to recreate what you have in xLights.  Then just add in a LOR sequence.  Hopefully S4 because I'm not running S5.

By the way I'm one of the xLights developers if you didn't know.  You should be able to send a PM on the forum.
