Building House Outline in XLights
« on: January 22, 2018, 11:11:43 AM »
Ok, I hope this is the right place to post this, if not I am sorry! But here it goes. So I am a complete Noob with this XLights, controllers, pixels, ect. but I decided in Dec. 2017 after watching the show on ABC, and some YouTube videos of houses that where done with sequencing (ESPixelStick creator - Candlewick) his youtube videos I was like I WANT to do that, and so does my family. So I have been playing with Xlights for about 1 to 1.5 months now, can control & sequence 2 strands of strings (only things I have bought) want to make sure I could before I invest largely into it. Now I know I can, I'm all in I measured my entire house yesterday for all my calculations. 15 - 16 strands of 50 C9 pixels to do the complete outline for this year.

So my question is what is the best way to line the house, windows, and garage doors. Is the best way to do this is just draw single strand lines with the set number of pixels per line? For example if I have a window that has 8 pixels on the vertical portion of the windows and 7 pixels on the horizontal portion of the windows (6" spacing between pixels). Do I just do 4 single strands around the window and have the next strand start where the 1 before it ended? If this is not the best or most efficient way what would be a better solution to do an entire front of the house outline?

Also if that is the best way to do windows, just doing an outline of everything I will just have a large number of single strands to sequence
