Render Time
« on: January 22, 2018, 08:30:33 PM »
This is in no way a complaint.

With that said I am wondering if I am doing something wrong that may be causing render times to be long on some of my sequences.  For this example:

Sequence: Lilia Hallelujah
Render time: 132.513 seconds
Computer: Core I7 970 @ 3.2GHz 6 core (When rendering average processor utilization is 17%)
Ram: 6GB (When rendering average memory usage is 58%)
HD: SATA III SSD

Do I have somthing set incorrectly such as extra channels that is causing the long render times?  Is there anything I could be doing differently?

Thank you for your feedback.  I would attach my xml file however since this was a purchased sequence and I don't believe that would be appropriate.  I can send it to anyone that may be able to help without infringing on the purchased material.  I have attached my Check Sequence Log if that helps.

Thanks!

Brian

Your check sequence while not perfect isn’t too bad. In .3 you can see which effects are rendering slowly by holding your mouse over the render progress bar in the render dialog. To bring that up click on the progress bar at the bottom of the window.

Thanks Keith,

I have attached a Pic of the render progress...  All models render at the same rate I believe because I just took Lilia's sequence and spread it out over several models.  I guess it may have to do with all the layers.

The reason they render at the same rate is because you are using the all group and that blocks everything else from rendering. The thing to look for is anything that is pausing for a long time.

On this particular sequence I'm not sure how I could do that. Since I am using the All group is there a way I can break it down so I can see which model maybe hanging it up. As I watch it currently all the bars move at exactly the same pace and finish at exactly the same time.

If you hover over one of the progress bars it will tell you which effect it is currently rendering.

Thanks Gil.

I gave that a try and nothing really stood out as taking a long time...

I guess I'll just chalk it up to a complicated sequence.

After looking at my All group I realized that I had my 2 mega trees, the mega matrix, and the p10 all in that group.

By taking them out it lowered the render time to 64.97 seconds.

Would "check sequence" catch that or if not I wonder if it would be possible for it too...

Just a thought.  :)

Check sequence won’t catch that because it is not something we would expect you not to do.
