LOR Sub-sequences to Xlights
« on: January 29, 2018, 05:01:56 PM »
I have successfully transferred all of my main sequences to xlights. The one exception is my circle sequences. They are sup files thatr I ran them as a sub-sequence in my main sequences that had my CCR Tree, etc. I already have the main sequences transferred. How can I add the "sub-sequence sup." file for my circles to my xlight sequences? Any easy way? It is on its face a regular sequence but I need to place it in an already existing xlights sequence.

Cheers

If it's a SUP file it will import into an existing sequence just fine.  New layers get created automatically if room is needed.  But the circles are tricky if you're talking about the 4 circle stuff.  The issue is they are really laid out as a 4x50 horizontal matrix in Superstar.  If you have superstar you could open it up to confirm.  That means the morphs and such have coordinates that are relative to the matrix and not 4 individual strands.  So instead of trying to import onto Circle models in xLights you might need to create a proxy matrix to receive the effects.  Just create a matrix in xLights that overlaps the same channels as your circles.  If you can't get it going you'd have to zip it all up to let me try.

You lost me @ need to create a proxy matrix to receive the effect. Ive' got a sequence ready to receive the circles but not sure how to create a proxy matrix to overlap my circles. I've learned fast but now I'm a bit lost. I do have superstar but not sure what to look for. Can I send you the sup file?

They are 12x50 matrixs in superstar. I see where the import effect is and I located my sup file. Just not sure what to do after that.

It's a 12x50 matrix in SuperStar?  So it's 12 Circles?

I use the term "proxy" to mean its a model used only to place effects but not one you really want displayed in the Layout.  If you created 4 independent Single String models of 50 pixels each with the first string starting on channel 1, 2nd string on channel 151, 3rd string on channel 301, and the 4th string on channel 451.  Then you created a 4x50 matrix that also started on channel 1.  The matrix would have 600 channels that overlap the 4 strings.  Any effects you dropped on that matrix would also show up on the 4 strings.  Therefore I call it a proxy model.  You could also create another model that is a 200 pixel single string starting at channel 1 and any effect placed on any model would show up on all models.  Does that make sense?

Can you delete the attachment?  I've got the file to do testing an it should stay available if it was a purchased file.

I see someone else downloaded the file.  Pretty sure we can track who grabs it.

Haha...I saved it on my work computer and forgot to email it home.  You can send it in a private message or I'll try to remember to send it home tomorrow.

Ok it took some figuring out but I got it to work.   The trick is you gotta look at how its defined in SuperStar and especially the order of the node layout.  I also inspected SUP file in Notepad++ and noticed that the axis that is horizontal is where the Y values were and X values were the vertical axis.  This is also marked as a Visualization model which means you usually have to manually type in the X and Y sizes in the Import dialog.

To match the pixel ordering in SuperStar I created a custom model.  It was rather quick using Excel and then pasting in the values.  So import this custom model I'm attaching and set it's start channel to the first channel of your first circle.  Also I noticed you need to rotate the Circle models in xLights 90 degrees to the right to get them to match a left side start point.  Set the Import dialog to how I show in the attached screenshot and let me know how it goes.

So since the Custom model is a shadow model you can change it's Preview setting to Unassigned so it won't show up in the Default preview.

I had to try it tonight. Works perfectly. I still don't quite understand how, but it works. I have 6 more circle .sups that I bought last year to add.

Thanks again for your expert help!

Cheers

It's done by creating a model that matches the node layout in SuperStar.
