Chasing my tail on zig zag
« on: February 03, 2018, 01:40:17 PM »
Hey All...

I'm setting up a new model.  I want to use the zig zag feature in my Falcon F16v3 for a mega tree.  I've never used the zig zag feature before so I feel a bit like I'm chasing my own tail trying to set this up properly.

When I get into the XL/NC setup I'm confusing myself with how to set the PMT model up.

Theoretically speaking, if I have 5 strings of pixels with 100 pixels in each string (total of 500 pixels for all 5 strings) and I want to zig zag each string to make 20 strings of 25 pixels in each string on the PMT(using the F16v3 to control the zig zag) what settings do I enter into XL/NC in the layout tab for the following settings?

# strings?
Nodes/string?
Strands/String?

I'm getting myself wrapped around the proverbial axle as I overthink this....I THINK I might have it correct but  I would appreciate some feedback to keep me on the right track and verify my thought process...

Thanks....

You could simple say in xlights

strings=1
nodes per string = 500
strands per string = 20

Or if using one output per string then
strings = 5
nodes per string = 100
strands per string = 4

I would do the zig zag in xlights as stated above and not in the F16v3.  NEVER do the zig zag in both places.

If you want 20 strings of 25 pixels with zig zag in the Falcon then create a 20 string tree with 25 pixels per string and set zig zag to 25 in the Falcon.
