LOR Setup
« on: March 05, 2018, 08:38:01 AM »
Hi, I am running most recent version of XLIGHTS and I see we can now add LOR controllers. but I don't know how to assign models to them.  I have 2 Units assigned to the LOR output.  When I create the model, do I assign it to "Output number" and if so, how do I specify which unit.  (Unit 1 or Unit 2) ... To my understanding, this is not the DMX method.
Grateful for the support,
Michael

Only use that option if you are going to run the LOR controllers from xLights/xScheduler using a LOR USB dongle.

There are a few ways to specify the start channel.  Absolute channel numbers will work or just use output number and offset.  So "3:17" would assign the model to start at the 17th channel in Output 3.  Just use the "..." dots to open the dialog to see the options if you don't know the syntax.

I plan on using the LOR through it's usb 'dongle' just like I would use if I was running LightORama software.
In Setup, I add a LOR output and the next window, I add the device, choose 16 channels, add another unit and click OK.

But in Layout, I don't know how to map it

My apologies for being vague .. Attached is the setup tab showing that I have output 26 setup as LOR, and two Units in that Output.
Then I have the Channel Map dialog, but I don't understand how I would choose something like,  "Unit 2, channel 1" from that LOR output 26

I think I understand now ...
26:17 would be unit 2, channel one for my LOR output

Yes it would be "26:1" for Unit 1 and "26:17" for Unit 2.

I appreciate the help.  This gets complicated and I'm trying to explain the best I know how.

I just plugged the LOR controllers in, connecting some lights to the unit and have a dilemma .
The unit number in XLights setup tab has no affect.

Originally I had a ELL connected to the dongle and no lights would come on in the Test tool.
When I plugged the LOR controller in with the RJ45 dongle directly, they worked.
But when I tried testing a different unit, it wouldn't work and the original controller still lights up even after changing the UNIT number

It's odd.. My 4 channel LOR works but the 16 channel doesn't.

The LED indicator on the LOR Controller turns SOLID when I enter the Test Mode in XLIGHTS, indicating it's getting data, but the lights' i've plugged in (and have matching models) won't turn on.

Test mode doesn't work for this output.  Just create a real sequence and test it that way.

I'm confused by this because when I had   a LOR 4 channel controller plugged into the USB adapter, the test mode did work to control the lights, but when I tried with a 16 channel controller, it didn't work,  nor did any attempts to use a ELL

So.  I'm not debugging the Test mode right now.  I had someone tell me the exact same problem and I said just create a sequence and try to drop some effects on the models on that card and they said that worked fine.  So you can listen to me or play around for days with Test mode failing.  Test mode might be creating more traffic than the interface can handle.

Ok. I appreciate the feedback.
Do you know if I can use the ELL's with Xlights, now that LOR is supported ?

gadgetGuy,

I am doing something similar this year.  Question:  Are you using your LOR dongle for show playback with a laptop (or show director) OR
are you using it hanging from a FPP PI rig?
