Screen layout issue with 2018.7
« on: March 11, 2018, 09:42:37 PM »
Downloaded and installed 2018_7 for my Windows 10/64 laptop. Sequence screen will not layout right as it did in .6. I have uninstalled and re-installed to confirm my issue. I have attached a screen shot of how the new version comes up for me. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Try it..... what's the worst that could happen.

It must have read your reply because when I loaded it again to get the logs, it came up clean.... Screens look like they should and I did not do anything different. Thanks for the quick reply anyway.

My layout won't open after .7 install. The model selection window on the left displays, but the models dont. I've attached the log and sceenshot below.

That screenshot is too small...see if you can read it yourself.  But anyways the 2018.7 release contains a full toolset upgrade so there may be new problems that are unrelated to any changes we are familiar with.  We upgraded to a new version of CodeBlocks, wxWidgets, and the latest ming compiler.  So there are 2 years worth of changes to those tools we are pulling in that could have unknown side effects.  wxWidgets is the 3rd party library we use that handles all the windows GUI dialogs, panels, and controls and allows xLights to be multi-OS.

That definitely looks like an opengl issue.   That's actually interesting.   In the older wxWidgets, we had a to add a bunch of hack code to work around a bug in wxWidgets 3.1.0 when setting up the opengl contexts on Windows.   The bug is now fixed with the new version so the hack code can likely be removed.  I wonder if that hack code is now causing conflicts in some cases.  Hmm....

Here's a bigger screen shot. Sorry for the microscopic one before. And thanks for checking into it!

Cheers

Did you click in the layout area at all?  I thought I saw a similar refresh issue on the sequencer grid but I touched something and everything started working.

I did click where the layout is supposed to be and got nothing. It still shows the network setup where the layout should be. The model / group setup is responsive on the left. The models show in the sequencer tab and the sequencer and views works fine.

So is this an issue with my computer or is it a Xlights software issue. I reverted back to .6 until its figured out. Thanks again

I would totally delete your xLights and then install v7

I'll do it. I suppose my folders will remain when I delete Xlights?

I uninstalled xlights, restarted the PC, then re-installed v7. I'm still having the same issue.
