Updates To Manual
« on: March 12, 2018, 12:23:53 PM »
Hi, I am curious as to how often the Xlights Manual is updated, to stay current with the enhancements and new features ?
Grateful for the support,
Michael

I think updates have died out.  There was one main person doing the bulk of the work and he got busy doing other things.

The User Manual is well over a year out of date. There's a group of authors working on getting it up to date. It is a Sisyphean task as the cycle to update the manual is much longer than the software update cycle.

While there is a great user interest in keeping the manual as a PDF, the more effective way is going to be to move the manual to a Wiki type format that can have instant updates.

More info to come soon!

Do not ask to know all the answers, but ask to understand the question.

IMO having the info in the WIKI and the capability for instant updates makes far more sense than a PDF.

Only if people take the time to contribute updates.

If there is a Wiki, or soon to be, I would be willing to help by creating screenshots or screen-recordings and annotations for the authors. I have experience in Learning and Development, as well as Content Development. Screenshots/recordings are one of the most preferred learning styles for adults.
Grateful for the support,
Michael
