Here is a short how to video which might help with your problem.

Please note that for the file transfer I have built a batch file which makes the copy, pasting and file renaming a one step operation.
Let me know if you get it to work.
Quick question for you, I'm not at my show computer right now but can you keep adding nutcracker effects the way you showed or do you loose the older one. Once you rename the file for the new imported effect. Which I was able to try it right now, have to wait till I go home.
The way I do it now takes a little effort but I have automated a lot of it with batch files.
The process is like this.
After I use the effect in a sequence I save the sequence and exit LSP.
Then just as a backup I rename the 'MyUserPatterns.xml' nutcracker effect to some name that tells me what the effect is. Then I rename the backup file 'MyUserPatterns.OLD.xml' back to 'MyUserPatterns.xml'.
Then I open LSP, locate where I just pasted the effect, then highlight that effect and right click on it, select 'Copy to a new pattern' choose the group I wish it added to and give it a name, usually similar to the name of the .xml file for future reference.
Now it is in your LSP user library. Caution this library file can become quite large.
As an alternate method you can try the Pattern library import. If it works for your effect that would be good. I have just had erratic success using the import function. I have had it import a pattern but it would not save it etc. As I mentioned earlier the Pattern library export to file only creates an empty file (this will NOT get fixed).
There has been a utility built that will circumvent the LSP process allowing the merging of Nutcracker effects with the main LSP file. I just have not taken time to test it yet. I need it myself so over the next few days I'll finish the utility checkout.
Hope that helps. I am within a couple of days of having all my lights up.
