What am I doing?

Some of you may have noticed me missing from Facebook so no I didn't block you I deactivated my entire account.  I didn't make any kind of announcement there because to be honest it was a hard decision and I kept wavering about doing it.  I had been considering it for 2 weeks and finally just hit the button.  I felt like it was affecting my job because I found myself checking it way too much at work and I don't want it getting me in trouble.  You can tell folks there that I'll be glad to help here on the forum or with GitHub issues.

Also if you don't see many checkins from me in the upcoming releases it doesn't mean I'm not working on the code.  I've got a fairly big update I'm working on and it may take several weeks and the idea may not even pan out.

Sorry to hear of your departure but I can fully understand why. It is definitely a time sucker for sure and a big temptation to log in and cruise the forums. You definitely don't want to have it impact your primary job.

Hear that.  Was on vacation last week and facebook was a major suck of my time while I was just relaxing, and quite frankly there was extremely little gained from all that time spent there.

Hey look I'm a Newbie, glad you called me out Gil. The once nice thing about the forum that is lost in the FB group is the information that is shared gets buried within a day or 2 where here it is searchable. Note taken and will do my best to support you and try and share within here so that it is retained and can actually be found.

Yeah I think Captcha is only first 5 posts.  Its been so long I forget it even does that.

From a person not on Facebook, it would be great to see more issues posted on the forum first. I get the need for FB but it should be the exception and not the rule. At least my data is not shared on the forum. It just uses some processing power mining bitcoin 😉

I will say I never had or will join Facebook. At one point it sounded Xlights was headed in that direction and this forum was fading away. I almost signed up for facebook just for Xlights but held out. Oh so glad I did not. I will say this is a great community of people here to help each other lighting up their homes.
