Mega Tree
« on: April 19, 2018, 11:44:32 AM »
Hello, I have a question about the Mega tree wiring.  I am building a 180 degree, 48 string x 100 pixel mega tree. I have everything set up in Xlights, with sub-models, and have sequences.  Everything looks good on computer.  The question I have is, when I actually get down to wiring the tree, I started the tree on bottom-left in Xlights, So my first input goes to bottom-left, can I just put all the inputs for the remaining strings, counter-clockwise, at the bottom of the tree? Or, do I have to put Input 2 at the top, 3 bottom, etc.?  I'd like to have all at the bottom, if possible, to make wiring easier.  Thanks in advance!!

Hello,
I am also new to this. But would like to know why did you choose to use 48 strings x 100 pixels ? do you really have 48 strings for your Mega tree ? How many pixels wold you like to have on your mega tree ? How did you define <<Strands/Strings>> for your mega tree on xLight ? Thank you

the answer is endless as there are so many combinations. This is how my tree is setup. I'm running 24 strands with 150 lights per. that's total 3600 LEDs. I'm running 6 outputs with 600 on each.  Each output runs up and down the tree 4 times. at the bottom I power inject each strand.

Thanks for the replies.  I watched a video today that Keith had made and it helped me a lot.  I highlighted the tree, hit control and the pad on Mac, that brought up where I could look at the wiring view and the node layout.
Yes Martin I have 48 individual strands of 100 lights spaced at 2" apart.  That makes the tree close to 17' tall.  I would like to make it taller next year.  I put in 48 strands, 100 nodes per strand, 180 degree, start bottom left, and then I made quite a few sub-models (ie:Left half, right half, top left half, bottom left half, top right half, bottom right half, top half, bottom half, and for a sequence from Ron at Xtremesequence I put in 8 sets of six strings from left to right).  Took a little bit to get in all the sub-models

I have a 3mt tall, 16 strand flat tree running 5v strip, 90 up, 90 down (1440 leds).  I start data at the bottom of strand 1 and 9.  I power inject at bottom of 1, 4-5, 8-9, 13-14, but then I only run the tree at %15 brightness in the controller.
