Can't really use corofaces - without a heads up first....
« on: November 18, 2014, 06:06:52 PM »
I think I know how to resolve this issue (it's a one shot work around though).

Create a new sequence and import the xml from the coroface creation.
Add all your display items.
Protect all the effects.
Go to bottom of sequence, insert the number of blank rows equal to the number of timing marks you have.
Start sequencing (random effects will now only fill in the timing marks and not the coro faces).

This still leaves sequencing VERY challenging without a filter to as I don't really sequence 800 or so lines, I prefer to keep my songs under 50 different effects.

Has anyone created a different approach to this, one thought was insert blank rows, create two sequences and cut/paste between the two.

suppose you are doing a singing show.
1) Create a seqnece, one model and use papgayo.
2)Do a second sequence using audacity timing marks and 40 models. Use the exact same sound file as (1)
3)Exit xlights.  cd to your show directory.
Use the merge command to put the two together. New sequence will be 41 models. If there is the same timing in both files, they will be put on the same row.

you will find the command in your install directory.
for (3) open a  cmd window
here are some instructions. In this example voice11.xml is the papgayo file, lights.xml would be the
40 model file. all.xml will be 41 models and can be opened
#
#   merge_xml.awk
#   Description: This program will take multiple xml files and join them
#         together.
#
#   Command:   gawk -f merge_xml.awk voice11.xml lights.xml > all.xml

Well...I have a SSD disk and on my windows machine with just 57 or so rows in my sequence and one model the machine still is sluggish. I'm going to try this over on the Mac and see if things are any quicker in native mac os vs running win7 in bootcamp. as you can see from the attached image that xlights was killing my system resources

How many channels are in setup tab? I run xlights wth 24k channels and am just around 100mbytes. I don't understand how u got to 500 Meg's. Send me your current xlights_rgbeffects.xml, xlights_networks.xml and the sequence xml file to sean@meighan.net

I copied merge_xml.awk to my xlights directory (where the xml files live). I ran the command and the resulting XML file sort of  expanded. Two 500Kb  files turned into a 77Mb file.

C:\Users\ryan\Documents\xlights>gawk -f merge_xml.awk build-a-snowman-VOICE
.xml buildasnowman.xml > build-all.xml

11/23/2014  03:34 PM           576,104 build-a-snowman-VOICE.xml
11/23/2014  03:45 PM        76,781,426 build-all.xml
11/22/2014  09:30 PM           559,888 buildasnowman.xml

Something can't be right!

I've attached the two xml files if that is the cause of the problem.
