AC Question

Hey All..

Playing with the AC Toolbar.... I must be missing something....  I'm having trouble adding effects from the AC Toolbar....  Would someone take a peek at the following way I'm trying to do this and tell me where I'm missing it?

1.  Turn on the AC Toolbar....
2.  Click effect (ramps etc)...
3.  Place mouse on the element in the grid at the time in the song that I want the effect ....click and drag out to the desired length....

But nothing happens....no effect is placed on the grid.....  There must be something else that I need to do.  I've played with it for an hour....watched a couple of videos and still can't get it working consistently.....  I did manage to get it to work once or twice I have no clue what I did any differently.....

PS...I can get ramps by click/drag and hit U or D......

Make sure you have selected the intensity button.

Okay..... I found a way to get the icons to work....

IF I use the keyboard first and highlight and hit a key (U, D, O etc.) the effect is placed....I can THEN use the icon and it will place any of the effects.... But if I save and come back in I have to 'reset' by using the letters first.....
