P10 Frequency Sign 1x4 setup and sequencing
« on: July 19, 2018, 10:52:53 AM »
Thank you for all the help getting my P10s on a Pi Zero W working in a 1tall x 4wide configuration!

I've been learning Xlights on it and have been testing stand alone performance.

QUESTION: How should I program or setup the 1x4 setup to behave more like two identical 1x2s?   I want to put 2 panels back to back on a display and have an identical image on each side.

Thank you again for your thoughts and guidance!

I sequence my double sided tune to sign as a 2 x 1 in xLights, then utilize FPP to mirror those channels to the second set of panels.  My Pi is packed away for a upcoming move so I can't get more specific right now with the exact steps within FPP.

If I remember correctly,  the last time I set the sign up (switched from P10's to P5's) I actually didn't tell FPP to mirror the channels.  All four panels are all in a continuous series, but I only had FPP set to recognize the first two panels.  It automatically sent the same data to the other two panels.

In xLights, just model a 2x1 matrix.

In FPP, model it as a 2x2 matrix with one side being the the top 2x1 and the other being the bottom.   Then, (assuming FPP 2.x), add a channel Output Processor that remaps the entire block of channels from the 2x1 to the block immediately after it.   Basically, copies all the pixels to the second block.

Thanks for the replies.  Sequencing a 1x2 in Xlights is easy enough.  But I'll have to look in to that FPP operation more to try to figure that out.

Check out the on-line FPP manual and click on Remap Channels.

Except that page is out of date for 2.0.  There isn't a "Remap Channels" page anymore.   There are "Output Processors" and remapping channels is one such processor.

Good to know, since I'm still on 1.9 currently.  Plan on upgrading all of my Pi's this season to 2.0 but not until after my move here in 4 weeks and get everything unpacked and hooked back up.

Thanks guys.   I had a few things not match, but I'll share with everyone just in case it can be helpful to others.

My FPP seems to be the latest one ? for my Pi Zero - Version: v1.10-27-g259bc38

I turned off my mapping for the second 3072 pixels, remapped as you said, and then did a sequence in Xlights for a 1x2.   (It was a little tricky for me messing with the layout and saving right and then updating the sequence - but IM LEARNING!!  YEAY!

AND IT WORKS!!   Thank you!!
