Hi All,
I posted this on another forum site but just wanted to get all the input/suggestions I can. I've finished putting together my ws2811 megatree for this year, but have a problem with flickering when on full white. It seems to be full strings and sections rather than a single pixel or one pixel causing down the line issues. The tree is 36 strands of 60 pixels per string, divided up into 6 string sections. I think the issue I have created for myself is one of grounding. I had horrible flickering on all white but then rather than one ground wire between each psu (I use 3), I went back and connected each v- output via a terminal block and that seemed to help a bit. I think the problem I created was that I ran the controller power and data to string one and two, then I cut both the v+ and v- on string three but ran the data uninterrupted thru to string six. On string 3 I soldered in a 2 core pigtail that connects v+ and v- to the psu distro board and then at the end, on string 6 I used a 3 core extension from the distro board to connect v+ and v- (data line not used). I've been told that the issue could be the interruption of the ground between strings 2 and 3. If this is likely to be the case, does anyone have a solution other than cutting apart the tape, shrink tubing, and soldering and putting the ground back to the 3 core connection on string 3? I probably didn't explain it the best, but I've attached a photo of the two setups I have since some sections of 6 strings use the same psu but some use one psu for stings one and two and another for stings 4-6. Would my cutting of the ground most likely be the issue? Thanks for any help you can give me.
