Trying to help a newby friend with Boscoyo singing trees.
« on: September 02, 2018, 11:55:43 AM »
Hey everyone, trying to help Ms Corey get her singing trees going. Yes, we were watching the ZOOM yesterday, she had to leave before it was over as did I.  So if covered, apologies didn't see that part of the session.

Ok, We have already downloaded the Boscoyo custom singing tree models. All the nodes layout etc are there. We can put effects on the trees just fine. It's the singing part she/we need assistance with.

She has purchased some singing tree sequences from Holiday Sequences.  They are LMS files.  Split up into CT1,CT2,CT3,Ct4.  All the node ranges are listed for each section of the treeoutline and mouths.  Looking at the mapping, do we map the same object to cover all nodes.  Example: CT1 outline is nodes 1-100, so in mapping the outline, we would put CT1 outline in nodes 1-100? and so on for all the other node ranges for the mouth shapes?  Or is there an easier way to accomplish this.  The faces are already synced, just have to get them working in Xlights.   Since this is done at the node level, do we then promote node effects to clean things up?

The trees will be RGB pixels, so would she bulk edit colors first before promoting.
Finally, she does not have LOR software, She has AC channel stuff, but wants to do this in Xlights.

I'm probably missing something here. Also, I did not see any timings or lyrics on this LMS sequence. Just the effects.

Thanks
David

While it is possible to do this is really hard. I made a video on it a while back but very few people do it because it is so fiddly to do.

Hi Keith, this is what we were going to ask on the Zoom call yesterday. It was very helpful for Corey.

If the sequence is already done with appropriate effects, why do you need the lyric track. It is already complete. Can't you just map the trees and use in Xlights?   Just want to make sure I don't send her down a rabbit hole.  The RGB layout is 229 nodes, so I know we'll have a lot of nodes to deal with.

It was unexpected to me how this sequence was created in LOR.  All the face effects have been done, just need the trees to utilize them./ I thought mapping would be the answer. OK, I guess we'll have to regroup then.

Not good news for Corey.

Thank,
David

So. You can use it directly if his trees are dumb strings. But if you want to use the channel data to drive say a pixel face or a matrix face then you need to reverse engineer the phonemes the way the video shows.

Basically if you don’t use the phonemes you are doing an import either of effects on the face nodes or as a data layer.

Keith, I’ll have Corey(female) zip the files up so you can take a looksee, time permitting.

They are RGB pixels. She doesn’t have LOR at all, not sure how a data layer would work. She’s all AC, the singing trees are the only RGB element she is using. Again these are the Boscoyo tree model we downloaded w/in Xlights.

Re Face nodes, that is essentially what we are mapping right now. Trying to verify from my OP, if we are on the right track re mapping.

If we have to follow your video route, most likely we’ll have to go another route. :(

Thanks for trying.
Best,
David
