How to make ESEQ continuously loop in xSchedule
« on: October 21, 2018, 11:42:19 PM »
I'm moving over to xSchedule this year and really trying to understand how to get a looped ESEQ like I used to have.  I'll explain.  With FPP I had an ESEQ file that would be triggered by a script and loop without shutting off for my tune to sign and some A/C elements....completely uninterrupted...no blink or anything.  I would then trigger an event at the end of my nightly show to kill the event loop that contained the ESEQ.  So it would run non-stop the entire length of my show that evening from 5:00PM to 10:00PM.  Is there a way to do this in xSchedule?  I'm sure there is but I just haven't figured it out yet :)

I forgot to add to this that I tried using a background playlist, which worked, the problem is it does not loop.  It played my 30 second ESEQ once and then never restarted.  So at that point, I was stumped.

Last year I ran my P10 panels for Christmas as a standalone with nothing but announcements on it.  At EXPO Capt Murdoch told me I could still run that way but call a script that would trigger an eseq on my panels for the seq info even though it was not part of the multisync network.  The eseq would play once and then resume with the announcement sequence.  That is what I am planning to do this year.  The script, I think, was "Remote trigger event".  I would think that would work with xschedule as well.

Background playlists should loop automatically.

That's what I thought as well Keith, but it's not happening.  It's playing my ESEQ for 30 seconds (length of the ESEQ) and then shutting off and not starting again.  I haven't tried using an FSEQ for this and maybe that will behave differently.

I was also curious, is there a way of looping it within a playlist rather than globally?  What I mean is, I'd like to have different background sequences for different playlists...if possible :)

Different background playlists are possible by setting it within the playlist.

Would like to see the log to see why it isn’t looping

Regarding the different background playlists, I'm definitely interested in hearing how to do that as I could not figure it out.  I need something to loop uninterrupted because some of it are A/C elements that are just always on.  Trying to avoid the blinking.  Was able to do in FPP and hoping I can here as well.

As for the logs of the current playlist and the background sequence, I've attached.  You can look at the latest events as I just tested it once more before saving the logs for ya.  Thanks!

As a workaround I setup an FSEQ in another playlist and just put it on the same schedule as the rest of my show.  All works fine and it doesn't even blink when it loops.  For now I'm good but I'd really like to better understand how it is supposed to work with an ESEQ in the background playlist and why mine is not looping as a background sequence.

I'd also like to know how to run my own background sequence per playlist as Keith mentioned earlier.  Really trying to better understand xSchedule.  Thanks!

So the only way to add an ESEQ file is with an advanced playlist.  What I noticed when just trying it to test this is when I added an ESEQ the step was only 0.050 in duration so it didn't seem to calculate how long the sequence was.

Actually, I was wrong.  It won't play two playlists at the same time if their schedule overlaps.  Unless there is some workaround I'm unaware of that allows two playlists to play simultaneously..  So I'm back to not knowing how to get a background playlist working individual of my other playlists in a looping non-interrupted manner (non-global setting) or how to get my ESEQ to loop in the global background playlist setup.

Hoping to hear back more from Keith on this tomorrow.

Also to add.  When I had the two playlists with the same schedule, one was yellow.  What do the color codes mean?  I also noticed the my FSEQ names show up in blue when adding them to the steps.  Just curious what these color codes mean.  Thanks!

Yellow on the right panel shows the next step. Green shows current.

On the left yellow shows suspended. Green is active.

In playlist blue step is the item that controls the step timing.
