Halloween is near and I feel so far behind
« on: October 22, 2018, 08:14:49 PM »
Hi everyone, I am new to this. it will be my fist time llght show.and I am trying to setup for Halloween. I am using Xlights program, I really like it. the problem is now I need to assign my props (house outline, 3 maxtrix , bats, tombstones etc.) to my controllers. I am using a macbook pro and my controllers are Alphapix 16 and a 4. I visited many videos however I couldnt ping my macbook to the controllers using the Ethernet cord. Also to get started learning Xlights I used a bunch of nulls instead of assigning universes. now I am alittle confused on how to assign to the controllers. I brought Holidaycoro Ready2run controllers, my girlfriend figured out how to solder the strips to the pigtails but for the bullet nodes we don't know how. Also we brought a Pi and havent figured that out yet to use. She downloaded all the software needed we thought but it is a no go. If anyone have any time to help me , I would be so grateful I really want this to happen before Halloween but I am so scared this won't happen, but I am a fighter. Can anyone help me? where should start hanging the lights from the roof down? where and how do I put the controller for the house. and how to map everything in my show that it works? I don't have any power injections, someone said to just run shows no more thank 50% of the lights power it would work, is that true? I will send a copy of  a show file. OH, I would really appreciate this.

Join the Facebook group or drop by zoom pretty much and evening. Almost always someone there who can help.

I think Zoom would be your best bet.
I help a couple of people every time I log on, and it's much easier because you can share your screen so we can walk you through things.
It works best if you at least have a microphone for your computer a camera isn't necessary but sometimes is helpful.

Zoom is free to use. You need to use the link in the xlights help menu or on the xlights.org web page to get into the right meeting.

This is my first year as well, but I have learned so much. I can help you get set up as much as I can. I am not familiar with your controllers, but that shouldn't be a problem. I will be watching for your response.
