Default Model Order
« on: November 01, 2018, 03:59:34 PM »
Now that I am a little more familiar with the program, I like having my models in a certain order. When I start a new sequence, the models get populated in a different order than what I would like, so I have to move them around before I can start sequencing. Is there a way to set the default order? Without looking in deep detail, the rgbeffects.xml appears to have them in the default order. If that is the case, can I rearrange the models in <models> section or is there something linked to these elsewhere that needs to be changed as well?

You're supposed to create a View and then select that view when you create a new sequence.  Right-click the row headings and select Edit Display Elements.

Does the sequence render in the view order?

The sequence renders based on the Master View order but if you create a sequence using a View you've created then the Master View order will equal the order of that view.

So, I can create lets say, a "Render View".  Then I sequence using that view, then it will render in the "Render View" order?

It depends.  If Render View = Master View the answer is yes.  It renders in Master View order there should be no other question about it.

I think we are confused because of the terminology. So how do you make your "Render View" to equal your Master view? I can change my "Render View" but the Master View does not change.

Normally you select the View that contains the order you want when you CREATE the sequence.  If you didn't do that then you need to open the Edit Display Elements dialog, select Master View, and reorder the models the way you want them to render.

I don't see an option to select a view when I create a sequence? I must be blind. Or do you mean whatever view is active the first time you render the sequence? I have been opening the Edit Display Elements and reordering the Master View. It would be nice if we could then save that as our global Master View. I will start using the view I created and if I run into a render issue, I will deal with that when it comes up.

OMG, I went through all the steps to create a new sequence and didn't see that! Thanks a million!

FYI "Master View" is not global.  The Master View is what we call the models contained in each sequence so you can have a different set of models in every sequence if you like so every sequence contains a unique master view.

Ok, thanks. I think my confusion was with the terminology of "Master View" which normally is a global terminology (and appears global because when you start a new sequence, you do have a "Master View" even if you didn't create one) But I think I understand the methods now.
Keep up the awesome work!
