find and replace
« on: November 03, 2018, 11:15:28 AM »
Just wondering.

if this is on the drawing table?

Let's say I have a  color wash effect that happens 100 times within the sequence and I decide that I want to do a horizontal fade or to change its color.  Doing a right click and asking to find all of these effects within this sequence and changing it like so. Like the find and replace feature inside notepad ++.

The option I have now is to do each effect separately? Or can this be done inside notepad ++.

Since I have only used notepad a little I did not want to completely screw up more than normal.
Than
Brad

Use the select panel to select all the effects you want to change then use the effect settings panel to change the effect then press the update button on the effect settings panel.

If the effect has the exact same settings in 100 places then it exist on one line in the sequence xml file because we create a lookup database.  So you only gotta change 1 line to fix all 100 but you gotta know the exact field names we use and to save space we only list non-default parameters.

I used find and replace in Notepad (Programmers) to change the color of some shared Halloween songs (my songs know what you did) from Purple and Orange to Red and Green for Christmas.

That is not necessary ... bulk update exists for almost all functionlity including colours.
