xSchedule Crash
« on: November 24, 2018, 05:52:24 AM »
Last night after the "show" ran successfully, I came up to the "show" computer to check on some things.  I found that the xschedule had crashed.  The show had ran successfully from start to finish, including turning off all lights.  There was nothing else running on the show computer other than xschedule and the normal Windows 10 64 bit background jobs.  This is the 2nd time that xschedule has crashed on me, the previous time was about a week before.  I have attached both Crash reports.    I am really puzzled as to what is causing the crash, especially since like last night, There was nothing else being done on the computer.

Computer Specs:  Windows 10 home 64 bit, 1.44ghz, 4gb ram

Xlights version:  2018.47 (64 bit)

Just an idea ... the crash appears to have happened after Christmas Time.wma. Can that be converted to an mp3?

I have converted the song (and all other songs in the show, I have also linked the corresponding sequence to the appropriate mp3 file.   I will monitor and let you know if it happens again.

Yeah, I had mine running during Halloween for about a month without a crash.  Recently upgraded from .37 to .47 and been running for 3 days without an issue either.  Same setup as yours.

Pretty sure that crash has been fixed in a later version.

Awesome Keith -  It just crashed on me again..... the lights were on as I would expect, then no more than 15 minutes later the lights were off.  I came up to the show computer.  Everything appeared "normal".  Closed xschedule, opened xLights to ensure the "lighting networks" were set correctly, then opened xschedule.  I received the error message, basically stating that the com port was in use, I said to continue.  Then it gave me the crash message.  Here is the zip file.

In reading through the log file, it looks like the computer stopped communicating with my com port.   I am looking into that side to determine what happened.

that sounds like to old dreaded com port issue back in vixen 2.x days and windows.  Where windows would scan it's com ports and just for a split second would lock the application from accessing it and vixen would crash.

I uninstalled and then reinstalled xlights 2018.47 (64 bit). As soon as I opened xschedule, it I got a message saying it was  not responding.  I decided to roll back the version I used last year when I had very little issues -xlights 2017.42 (64 bit).  So far so good.   I will attempt to do some more troubleshooting with the newer version tomorrow.

The crash seems to be when loading the audio for D:\xlights\Joy to the World.mp3

Does it always crash in this song?

Seems to be crashing when “closing things” out for the night.   I will upload the log files shortly.
