Mega Tree Problem
« on: November 27, 2018, 05:36:59 PM »
Small issue and likely just something I am missing in the xlights software.
My Tree Setup:

6 strings on 12 strands

channel 1-50 run up 51-101 run down 102-152 up 153-203 down etc. etc.

when running a sequence every 2nd string is running upside down because of the way I have it set up...

Is there a simple fix that I am missing in the tree model?

Do you have zig zag set up on your controller too?  You only want that in one place or it will cause problems like you are describing.

Use right click on the model to view the node layout -- that will verify to you how you have it.

so the F16V3 only has forward/reverse in the string ports

I can see the node layout and all channels start from the bottom going up instead of the zigzag pattern (up and down)

Can seem to be able to modify/edit how the strings are positioned on the tree

You can do the zig zag in xLights or the Falcon.  Show a screenshot and we'll tell you what field it is in the Falcon.  In xLights Strands Per String greater than 1 causes zig zag.  So if you said you had 8 strings of 100 pixels and 2 strands per string it would become a 16x50 tree with zigzag.

Look at these videos and see if it helps...

I have the V2, not the V3.
In the V2, you do the 'virtual string' thing as shown in the video, then reverse the virtual string.
In your case, each port would have 2 strings of 50 pixels under it. The first forward, and the secong reversed.

In looking at this video, it looks like they have added a zig zag feature.
If I understand correctly, you should just need the one string of 100 pixels. Then turn on Zig Zag and set it to 50

If not, then I'm sure the virtual string thing would work.

Gilrock, Centauri, Allknowing, deplanche,
Thank you guys for taking the time to read and reply to my post.
Xlights 1 string/2 strands did the trick.
Its always the easiest thing that you look over.
Thanks again....my medium tree is up n running and looks amazing!

Yeah I would probably vote to change the name "Strands Per String" to "Zig Zag".  No matter what we choose there will always be some percentage of users that will still ask "What does this mean?" but I think zig zag would be more obvious to a greater number of users.
