Matrix not keeping up with sequence.
« on: November 28, 2018, 04:52:52 PM »
I decided months back to switch from LOR to Xlights this year, along with changing my whole display to
smart pixels, I've spent hours on youtube,  and xlights videos and its helped tremendously.  I have a problem
with both my Matrices not keeping up,  I have each  of them running on there own Pixie16,  1 is 24x50,  running off of 12 ports, the other is 25x28 running off of 7 ports of the other controller, the matrix is the only props connected to these Pixie controllers. I have them running on 1 network, 500k,  Enhanced,  I have ordered LOR's RS485-HS  Adapter, but not confident that is going to help with the lagging going on.  Is there
something else I need to change, add,  Beside replacing the controllers right now.   I had these plugged in
and ran them thru xlights prior to the show and didnt see any problems, but that was before the rest of the
contollers were connected and running.

Unfortunately the pixies are a real problem if you are sending lots of data every frame.

You didn't say what type of output the "other" controllers were on.  Unless they are on the same output as the Pixie's I wouldn't expect them to have much of an effect.  I wrote the code that makes the Pixies run on the LOR Enhanced output and my best advise is to use the new LOR adapter you ordered to split the load.  If you can wire it so each Pixie is on its own output/dongle you will have a better chance of not overloading the frames.

Other controllers are on E1.31 network,  all work great,  just these 2 pixies have issues,  I tried last night with
both pixies on the high speed adapter, and same result,  cant keep up,  I will put each screen on there own
lor adapter tonight to see if any better result.
Thanks Guys,  If I cant get going correctly tonight,  I am ordering 2 E1.31 controllers to replace the Pixies.
